Are
you wrestling with the events of life, feeling like God has
deserted you? Overwhelmed in your heart by disappointments that
seem to billow over you like the waves of the sea. All of us have
experienced what it is like to be overwhelmed in our heart.
The
good news is: At such
seasons we are not without an all-sufficient support. "When
my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the Rock that is higher than
I."-Psalm 61:2. Higher
than we are— is He, His mercy higher than our sins, His
love is higher than our thoughts.
Today,
fix your confidence upon an exceeding high and glorious Lord. He
is a Rock that changes not, and a High Rock that the outbursts of
life, that temporarily overwhelm us, roll far beneath His feet.
He is never disturbed by the storm, but rules them at His
will. He is your strong tower, and the righteous run into him and
they are safe. You have a right to take shelter under this lofty
Rock where all is calm and resist the storms. Take shelter in the
cleft of the Rock, where all your pain and disappointment will be
replaced with an inner joy that only His grace could provide.
