Psalm
138:8 “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me."
If
you are heavenly minded, then this promise is for YOU!
What
divine confidence the Psalmist expresses here (notice
he did not make his boost in himself). He did not say:
-
"I
have enough grace to perfect that which concerns me
-
My
resolution is so firm that nothing can move it
-
My
faith is so steady it will not be shaken
No,
his dependence was upon the Lord alone. You don’t perfect
it; the strength of your Faith doesn’t perfect it –
Gifts and Talents don’t perfect it; the
Lord does it.
We
are to rest upon nothing short of the Lord's work. It is the
Lord who has begun the good work within you; it is He who
has carried it on; and if He does not finish it, it never
will be complete.
He has done
it all, must do it all, and will do it all. Our
confidence must not be in what we have done, nor in what we
have resolved to do, but entirely in what the Lord will
do.
What
a great confidence: The
Lord will make you Perfect!
HE
will most assuredly, beyond a doubt, bring to perfection
your Faith, your Love, and every Grace.
He will perfect His Purpose. He will perfect your
calling; He will perfect your future.
“It is God who arms me with strength and makes
my way perfect.” [Psl. 18:32]
He will perfect His Promises; He will perfect your
Body and your Soul. There is only one who is perfect–so
leave the job to Him. God
will most assuredly perfect the work of his hands.
So
what is your concern?
Whatever
it is, receive the Word of the Lord:
“Trust that I, the Lord your God, will perfect all
that concerns you; for I am committed to my covenant and I
Will perform all that I have promised.” The Lord Will
– not
I hope He Will, or I trust He Will but HE
WILL!
He
will in no wise fail you.
Examine
the ground of your confidence, make sure it is divine!
